Requirements
Bio safety level 3 (BSL-3 or CAT 3) is applicable to clinical diagnostic teaching, research or production facilities in which work is done with indigenous or exotic agents that may cause serious or potentially lethal disease as a result of exposure by inhalation. Laboratory personnel have specific training in handling pathogenic and potentially lethal agents. All procedures involving the manipulation of infectious materials are conducted within biological safety cabinets or other physical containment devices or by personnel wearing appropriate personal protection clothing & equipment. The laboratory has special engineering and design features with focus on air pressure differentials and the hygienic qualities of surfaces within the laboratory. The doors specified are a critical part of the design
Solution
Dortek installed 40 GRP doorsets into a combination of traditional build plasterboard partitions & modular wall system. One important feature of Dortek doors in this instance was the ability to adapt frames & doors to suit both the plasterboard walls and the modular wall system. This is often requested as the doors offered by modular walling companies are not to the required standard for a BSL-3 facility.
