Requirements
Centocor, a biopharmaceutical company employing more than 900 people is located on the Bio-Science Park in Leiden.
The firm, since acquired by Johnson & Johnson, has become the world’s leading producer of monoclonal anti-bodies. The amalgamation of both companies has led to radical treatments aiding human health.
As a major healthcare company, the Leiden site has manufactured all of the firm’s products, including MYOSCINT, CENTOXIN and PANOREX.
In 2005 the Remicape 150 project entailed major upgrades to the existing site. Offices were to be improved or renewed but the main constructional activities were in expanding its production facilities.
The prerequisite of Dortek was to supply and fit fire doors, with ratings ranging from 1-4 hours.
Solution
The major emphasis on this project was the fire rating of some of the clean area and the area between the new & existing facility. Dortek were able to supply fire doors ranging from F60 through to F240 tested to the latest European fire test EN1634.
The project was complex due to the specialist ironmongery the client specified. This was co-ordinated by our technical department to ensure it integrated perfectly with the doors and drawings that were produced for approval by the engineering house & the client. Dortek attended design meetings in Holland to ensure that when the doors arrived on site the minimum of co-ordination was required with the contractor.
Following this project the same doors were specified on a number of refits in the existing facility.
