Ennerdale is one of the 5 leisure schemes run by Hull City Council. The leisure centre opened in the mid 80’s offering a wide range of facilities to the public; this includes swimming, fitness and relaxation areas. Other key benefit to the Ennerdale complex is its 33m x 28m sports hall and 18m x 16m studio which provides ample space for sports ranging from 5 a side football to martial arts and dance.
Due to the sheer volume of people using the centres facilities a requirement was established in bringing the changing rooms to the standard of operating compliance. Ennerdale had been long due a refurbishment and as part of the wet change upgrade they identified a need in replacing rotted frames and doors forming the specification.
The local authority architect sought a provincial company that could provide robust doors, able to withstand vandalism, maintenance free and a durable product.
Solution
Dortek supplied and installed 13no single door and frame sets in both fire rated and standard specification. They were installed into blockwork with a hygienic cladding finish. Each door fulfils the clients specific requirements as follows.
- Modern Contemporary Appearance
- Strong Robust Construction
- Maintanance Free
- Water and Chemical Resistant
Dortek GRP products offer huge potential benefits in wet environments with our unique water resistant properties. Manufactured as a fully sealed 1 piece moulded construction from completely inorganic materials, they do not warp, swell, rust or rot.
The doors were produced in a neutral Grey colour, with the frame contrasting in accordance with Part M regulations, but also to give a modern appearance. The specialist hardware, suitable for wet areas completes the doorset.
