Requirements
As a world leading pharmaceutical company, GlaxoSmithKline employs over 100, 000 people in 116 countries. This site is a secondary manufacturing facility which produces GSK products for supply to over 160 markets
As part of a refurbishment programme, GSK, upgraded the production area to hygienic cleanroom materials with minimum ledges and seams and no organic content.
Existing laminate doors were deemed incompatible with hygienic requirements and it was decided to replace them with Dortek’s Wenplast® GRP doors, frames, automations and interlocking.
Solution
Dortek’s K type fire rated doors and GRP bi-parting sliding doors in post office red were chosen for this project.
Automations were supplied on both hinged and sliding doors allowing operatives within in facility to gain swift access to the blending booths – something that had been asked for by those that worked at the facility.
A feature particularly important to the client was that Dortek automations do not require a safety edge on the leading edge of the door – a feature which is often damaged during its operating life.
To meet a very short shutdown period dictated by the client, our team of engineers worked on the site throughout the day and night until the job was complete to ensure completion on time.
