GSK Biologicals are one of the worlds leading vaccine manufacturers, supplying around 25% of the world’s vaccines.
This S$600m, 85,000 square metre vaccine plant located in Tuas, Singapore is GSK’s first such facility in Asia. The plant will produce GSK’s Pneumococcal Conjugate vaccine designed to combat meningitis, pneumonia and blood poisoning, diseases which currently kill around 1 million infants each year.
Biological drugs are very difficult & complex to produce. They require a very high standard of cleanroom to produce them and the doors are a critical part of this.
Solution
Dortek have a long track record with GSK Biologicals, having worked with them for over 15 years on their facilities in Rixensart & Wavre in Belgium, Godollo in Hungary, St Amand Les Eaux in France and this new green field manufacturing facility in Singapore.
Having already set up our company in Singapore and successfully completed projects for the likes of Novartis and Merck, Sharp & Dohme we were ideally placed to help GSK on this project. We had also tested our doors to the Singapore fire standards & our factory had been audited by PSB.
Our Singapore office was able to offer design, scheduling & project management of the complete door package. As well as this we used our own trained local labour to install over 400 doors to very exacting standards.
GSK recognise that the door package is very important to successful validation of the Cleanroom and over the years have developed a solution with Dortek that has been taken around the globe.
The project was completed in 2009.
