Requirements
Atlantis is the majestic focal point of Palm Jumeirah, the first resort to open its doors on Dubai’s revolutionary man-made island that has captured the world’s imagination with its magnificent scale and ingenuity.
Created by Kerzner International Holdings Limited, a leading international developer and operator of destination resorts. The resort offers relaxation and thrills for all including a landmark hotel, unique marine habitats, an exhilarating water park and pristine white beaches.
Doors were required for the Dolphin Bay area of the resort. A four-and-a-half hectare tropical setting modeled carefully on their natural habitat is home for the dolphins at Atlantis.
The Kerzner Marine Foundation is a private non-profit foundation that encourages the preservation and enhancement of global marine ecosystems through scientific research & education. As part of this commitment, Dolphin Bay serves as the first marine mammal rescue and rehabilitation centre in Dubai.
Solution
The specification was high. A worldwide search began for a unique door suitable for this challenging environment. The doors had to be completely impervious to water with a fire rating of over two hours.
The contractors search led them to Dortek and after careful consideration just one company was selected for the job. Dortek’s hygienic GRP doors were the perfect solution. Water resistant they will not warp, swell, rot or rust.
With a smooth & seamless construction they are easy to clean and will not harbour bacteria and the built in colour means they are maintenance free.
They are lightweight, yet strong and durable. Fire resistance of up to 4 hours is available as standard.
The stunning new 1,539-room resort first welcomed guests in September 2008.
