Requirements
The Rumaillah Hospital is Qatar’s oldest health facility. Originally built in 1956, Rumaillah Hospital opened in 1957 as a 200-bed general hospital with ambulance services and a large outpatient facility.
Following the opening of Hamad Hospital in 1982, Rumaillah Hospital became a rehabilitation center for disabled adults, elderly people and handicapped children. With many of its units requiring major renovation, management launched a 10-year program to rebuild the facility in three phases.
A modular off-site build method was chosen for the new operating theatres to shorten the programme and cause a minimum of disruption to the day to day running of the hospital. A UK based contractor was selected as the leading specialist in off-site construction to the healthcare industry. Dortek were engaged as there preferred supplier of specialist hygienic doors to the clinical environments.
Solution
Dortek have a long track record with the contractor having worked with them for over 8 years on many of their UK facilities. Dortek are able to offer design, scheduling, co-ordination, project management and installation of the complete door package to the clients exacting standards. The door systems that Dortek manufacture are particularly suitable for the clinical environments for a number of reasons.

• Will not swell, rot, warp or rust
• Available with varying degrees of sealing including the popular hermetic sealing sliding doors
• Windows available with integral blackout blinds and spectral control window film to give X-ray or laser protection
A particular requirement for modular building is the ability to join the sectional components to form one building which often means doors are on joint lines. Our unique two piece split stainless steel door frame facilitates this construction method.
In addition Dortek supplied and commissioned electric automations to the main theatre doors operated by hygienic touchless sensors.
