Requirements
Molkerei Alois Müller (UK) is a European market leader in dairy products. The Müller site in the UK specialises in the production of yogurts; from low-fat yogurt offerings to the combination of yogurt and cereals, the two main brands being Müller Corners and Müllerlight.
Since 1992 when the site opened in Market Drayton Müller has seen a significant annual increase in sales which has reflected year-on-year on the growth of the business. In 2004, the company acquired the license to produce chilled yogurts on behalf of Cadbury in the UK. The business has constantly reviewed and stayed focused on quality and technical innovations. To the present date the start-of-the-art production facility has been expanded significantly, these modifications have increased efficiency and capability to manufacturing, warehouse and distribution. In recent reports Müller now produce more than a third of all yogurts eaten in the United Kingdom (UK), all of these produced in the factory located at Market Drayton.
In 2004, Dortek were tasked with the replacement of steel doors across the facility.
Solution
Dortek manufactured and installed a number of hinged and sliding GRP doors throughout the Muller facility. Our GRP doors would replace the existing steel doors due to aesthetic appearance and operation of the doors.
Over time, steel doors often end up dropping or become misaligned, the hinge potentially weakens due to excessive wear, which leads to the door dragging and this makes the door difficult to operate and non-compliant. A steel door is often beneficial in situ externally from a security purpose but they aren’t user friendly in heavy usage areas such as production facilities.
Dortek is the UK’s market leader for the manufacture and installation of doors in food applications. The unique properties of the GRP door mean they comply with all GMP requirements, and the one piece moulded, lightweight construction, seamless, easy to clean, and do not harbor bacteria. It’s these properties that make our doors ideal for food processing areas, where daily wash downs are required and hygiene is of utmost importance.
We supplied a variety of frames that are compatible with various wall constructions be they traditional build or insulated panels.
Throughout all of the modifications within the facility Dortek has provided many solutions and worked in conjunction with project contractors or the client directly. We deliver modern management techniques and systems for the execution of all projects from start to finish.
The project has been phased across many years.
