Requirements
Nutricia Ltd operates two business divisions in the UK sharing the same common goal; supporting health through nutrition and improving the lives of patients and consumers. The two separate divisions of ‘baby’ and ‘clinical’ serve different markets. These diverse markets range from Supermarkets/Wholesalers to NHS Trusts/Pharmacies.
The project was originally tasked by Thermal Transfer on behalf of SHS. The company SHS has since been acquired by Nutricia UK, part of Royal Numico NV, which draws its name from combining its three well known European Baby Brands namely; Nutricia, Milupa and Cow and Gate Ltd.
Solution
Throughout the recent years a solid relationship has been developed between contractor and supplier. Dortek Ltd was selected by the company once known as Thermal Transfer. The contractors are specialists in cleanroom build and are now recognised in the industry as EDTE after the acquisition that took place in 2007/08.
The facility required a diverse range of hygienic products as part of the specification:
- Sliding/Hinged GRP doors
- GRP removable panel
- Fast acting doors
- Automated/manual operation
GRP is the material of choice and particularly suitable for applications where hygienic performance is critical. Various areas in production are subjected to the most vigorous cleaning regimes, in all cases GRP doesn’t react, swell, rot, warp or rust like many other alternative products such as steel or timber.
Over and above the specification the client requested air lock doors would be fitted forming the design criteria. Dortek’s automation and interlock systems are specifically designed to allow a safe & speedily operation within production areas. The interlock process prevents air born contamination in controlled environments, in this case the movement of products from one area to another.
A great rapport, confidence in Dortek’s high quality hygienic products and service delivery meant the project was fully commissioned and met the requirements of the client.
