Requirements
The Robert Gordon University is a modern University located in Aberdeen, Scotland.
As part of a £10 million investment in a state-of-the-art sports facility the client required one door type which could fulfil an array of requirements from maintenance to hygiene and security.
The facility houses a 25m swimming pool, two gyms, climbing wall and bouldering room, cafe bar, three exercise studios and one of the largest sports halls in the North East of England.
The door type chosen for this project needed to be more than just aesthetically pleasing. It needed to have a long trouble free lifespan with a minimum of ongoing maintenance, resistance to heavy traffic usage in the corridors and impact resistance in the gymnasium. They must also not be affected by moisture in the pool and wet change environments and offer security on the perimeter doors. Fire ratings were also required at points throughout the building.
Solution
Our range of GRP K & F Type flush doors in a neutral silver grey colour met all the criteria provided by the client.
Doors were fitted with non standard extended pull handles and circular vision panels throughout to enhance appearance and electric automations were provided for to heavy traffic and entrance/exit areas.
