Requirements
This is the brand new flagship hospital for the Spire Group which opened in 2010 and the project involved the construction of a two storey private day-surgery hospital with treatment and consultation facilities, totalling 4,000m2, and will complements Spire’s existing facility at Murrayfield Hospital, Edinburgh.
This state-of-the-art facility provides 6 consulting rooms, 7 in-patient rooms, 8 day – care pods, an operating theatre department, accommodation for minor procedures, Cath Lab, IVF suite, diagnostic imaging department, including X-ray, MRI and CT scanning facilities, and a chemotherapy unit.
With the clients requirement for state of the art doors in critical clinical areas, Dortek were engaged as their ongoing specialist manufacturer and installer of theatre doors.
Solution
Dortek have a long track record with Spire (formerly BUPA), having worked with them for over 10 years on many of their UK facilities.
Dortek are able to offer design, scheduling, co-ordination, project management and installation of the complete door package to Spires exacting standards. The door systems that Dortek manufacture are particularly suitable for the clinical environments for a number of reasons.
A particular requirement for this modern facility was to have maximum visibility and natural light transmission between rooms. Dortek supplied the solution with use of the new fully glazed version of the innovative MF5 Hermetic Sealing Sliding door complete with electric automation and touchless controls. The further benefit of this product is it provides acoustic enhancement of the room.
In addition Dortek supplied a number of hinged GRP doors many of which were electrically automated and others with special lead lined protection to X-ray rooms.
Dortek also supplied and installed access control and electrical interlocking facilities between doors to protect the room integrity.
All doors were installed & commissioned by Dortek engineers over a 3 month period in 2009.
