One of the most impressive facilities of its type, this world-class hospital brings together the expertise of consultants in Orthopaedics, Diagnostics and Sports Medicine in a purpose built clinic. It offers a unique, single-centre care facility for screening, diagnosis, surgical intervention and rehabilitation One of only a handful of its kind worldwide, the clinic, located in Santry Demesne in Dublin, is the brainchild of Dr Ray Moran, one of the country’s leading sports-related surgeons.
With 160 staff in total, and plans for the 37 in-patient beds to be increased to 70 to meet demand, the clinic is catering for people of all ages affected by musculoskeletal injuries, which includes major joint replacement, specialist sports medicine clinics and rehabilitation programmes. Covering a massive 130,000 sq ft, the clinic, sited on the new Northwood Business Park was built in 2007 by McNamara Builders.
Due to the surgical element of the clinic a hygieinic sealing, quiet action door system was required whilst remaining aesthetically pleasing throughout the entire clinic.Due to limited space between the corridors and the entrance to the four clean air theatres, architects Moloney O’Beirne specified sliding doors.
Solution
Dortek’s MF5 single & bi-parting sliding doors were installed. All doors were automatic, some with interlocking & some with lead lined X-ray protection. The patented hermetic seal on the door gives greater control over the air pressure within the theatre, thus reducing cross contamination and the risk of infection.
