Requirements
FA Charter Standard Community Club, Wendron FC received a grant of £650,000 from the Football Foundation towards the construction of the state of the art facility and their ground at Wendron Cricket Club.
The new building required high quality fire and non fire rated waterproof doors suitable for intensive use in a changing facility.
The Club has over 300 playing members, as well as over 130 teams from across the South West who attend an annual mini-soccer festival hosted by the club meaning that the doors needed to be able to cater for 10-14 football teams at any one time.
Solution
Dortek’s K Type door, with a 30 minute fire rating were chosen for the project.
Central to the design was the unusual colour chosen for the doors, which matched the teams strip.
The doors were produced in’ Bordeaux Red’. The colour is built into the door during the manufacturing process which means they require no refinishing and importantly in a changing room environment are impervious to water and will not warp, rot, swell or rust.
The doors smooth, seamless profile also insures that there are no ledges where mud, grass, dirt and germs can gather making it easy to clean and maintain.
As well as doors for the project we also provided a special 1m square fire rated serving hatch for the kitchen.
The centre was officially opened by the FA Director of Football Development, Sir Trevor Brooking in July 2007.
